The chair must be a full-time member of the SAA faculty and hold full graduate faculty status. Through these readings students will learn to engage in scholarly critiques of quantitative research, conduct a methodological review of quantitative research in an area of interest, and form a foundation for understanding and developing methodologically sound quantitative research. As part of your degree program in Student Affairs Administration and Leadership, you will complete a dissertation. This course provides an opportunity for advanced individualized independent study at the post-masters level or at the post-doctorate level. Be familiar with dissertation policies, procedures, and deadlines. Individual committees are likely to vary from one another, given student and faculty preferences and needs for working together.
Committees are comprised of two to four individuals in addition to the chair. The proposal defense is a meeting of your full committee that should be scheduled for 2 hours.
