Hammer Museum latest LA art venue to announce expansion

Originally built to showcase a private collection of historical paintings, the Hammer Museum at UCLA has grown over 25 years to cover a range of art, from classic to contemporary, with a special focus on contemporary art since the 1960s that it highlights via its free exhibition program and the Made in L.A. biennial. Following a recent renovation of its third-floor galleries to create 10,000 square feet of continuous gallery spaces for displaying major traveling shows, the museum this week revealed ambitious expansion plans.
