I love Victorian post-mortem photography and here’s why you should give it a chance

The Victorian tradition of post-mortem photography pops up in the media on a regular basis, usually accompanied by an article about how weird or creepy it is to have pictures of dead people on show. But I love these photographs, with their sepia tinted acknowledgement of death and loss, and wish more people would take the time to understand the motives behind them.
