Geez, just Google “photography” and you’ll pull up a zillion “how-to” sites. Best way is to get out there and shoot. And remember…
There are no bad photographs, just bad photographers.
“Rules” are made to be broken.
It’s the 10″ behind the viewfinder that makes the picture.
First, READ & STUDY the Owner’s Manual for your camera.
Classes in photography would be the very best way to learn photography and how to get the maximum benefit from your camera.
I’d be more specific if I knew if your camera was film or digital. Tell us that and I’ll edit this answer.
Edwin is right. Your owner’s manual is your first and best resource when you’re just starting out. Go through it page by page, not just reading, but doing what it says as you go. That will help you learn your camera, see what it can do and how to do it.
Then branch out. Join a photography club. Take a photography class. Read books and magazines. If you’re using film, learn to develop and print it yourself.
And look at lots of photographs and paintings of the masters. Learn from them. Learn about and look at any art in general for hints on using color, subtle tones and textures in black and white, and composition.
Here’s a good site for learning about exposure. Keep it handy:

the best and fastest way for humans to learn is in schools with teachers, find a night course or fulltime day course and go learn
else books or youtube for tutorials

Yes start with reading the manual. Take a class that will help and its fun. Experiment play with the settings get to know your camera. You can always get a book or do a search.
Have fun with it and a class will help a lot.
Get a book which teaches you the basics of photography and gets you familiar with terminology like aperture, shutter, depth of field, macro, composition, ISO, etc. Once you understand the basics and tried them out on your camera then I suggest you continue to practice everyday. Experiment and try new things. Don’t do the same things over and over again.
I learned photography in about a few days, but have yet to master it. Been taking pictures for over 10 years and continue to be amazed with the variety of amazing pictures I see everyday from other people.
